One of the most important parts of a progressive-scan DVD player is the "de-interlacer," and Sony's advanced Pixel-by-Pixel I/P Conversion design has the processing power to deliver flawless, fluid progressive-scan video every time! The DVP-NS900V features composite and S-video outputs for easy connection to almost any TV, plus a selectable 480p/480i component video output. For progressive-scan (480p) you'll need an HDTV-ready TV, like Sony's Hi-Scan™ models. Or you can select interlaced mode (480i) for a terrific picture with a regular TV.
The DVD experience isn't complete until you've heard your favorite movie in wraparound 5.1-channel surround sound. The DVP-NS900V has built-in Dolby® Digital and DTS® decoding and a 5.1-channel output. Connect it to any A/V receiver with a 5.1-channel input for full-on home theater fun. Or connect the player's optical or coaxial digital output to a Dolby Digital/DTS receiver.
Like virtually all players with built-in decoding, the DVP-NS900V provides bass management for Dolby Digital and DTS soundtracks. It also has bass management for multichannel SACD. (Bass management ensures optimum sound quality from any 5.1-channel speaker configuration.) A headphone jack with volume control is included for high-quality private listening.
